Can insoles help with overpronation in runners?

Asked 4 years ago

Hey, I am looking to start running this spring. I have noticed that when I run my feet overpronate, this doesn't cause me any pain currently but I am worried about what will happen in the future. Would insoles help counter this overpronation so I can run without injury?

Yes, insoles are great when you have flat feet, but buy an insole with a medial arch support. Arch support lifts your pronated arch and helps keep your posture balanced during walking or running. To avoid injury in the future, start strengthening the intrinsic muscles of the foot, gluteus muscles, quadriceps and calf muscles.
