How important are insoles for runners to prevent injury?

Asked 4 years ago

Hello, I have recently become a keen runner over the past 6 months. Due to the amount of impact that occurs when running, I was thinking whether wearing insoles would help me prevent injuries from occurring in the future. Does anyone have any information about this? Thank you

Running is a high-impact activity which puts a lot of stress through the delicate bones and tissues in your knees, lower legs, ankles and feet. Over time this can lead to injuries such as plantar fasciitis or shin splints, so it is important to take steps to protect yourself. Wearing the right pair of insoles, particularly those designed for high-impact activities such as running, can help to cushion and support your legs and feet while you run, helping to absorb shock and to reduce your risk of running-related injuries.
