Do insoles make a noticeable difference in running performance?
Asked 4 years ago
I have seen on Instagram that there are brands that sell insoles that allegedly improve athletic performance, normally jumping height. Would wearing insoles with a high stiffness cause an improvement in running performance too?

A lot of insoles are designed specifically with high-impact activities such as running in mind, and often use high-quality, strong and firm materials such as carbon fiber, which are stiffer than some other materials. There is evidence that a good set of insoles, alongside comfortable footwear, can help to improve performance when running. This is because the right pair of insoles can help to improve your comfort when running, as well as reducing shock and strain on your feet, ankles, knees and hips. All of this helps to improve efficiency while you run, and to reduce pain and injuries, to keep you running for longer.
