Can tight calf muscles or achilles tendons lead to plantar fasciitis?

Asked 4 years ago

Hi. I've been experiencing some pain in my feet lately and I'm wondering if it could be plantar fasciitis. I also have very tight calf muscles and Achilles tendons. Could the 2 be linked? Are any stretches or exercises that can help alleviate the pain? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes! Tight calf muscles and Achilles tendons are two of the most common causes of Plantar Fasciitis. The tight calf muscles pull through the Achilles tendon, which draws the heel bone away from the plantar fascia and strains it. Calf stretches may help relieve the symptoms.
