Can a sedentary lifestyle increase the risk of developing plantar fasciitis?

Asked 4 years ago

Hello, As someone who spends most of their day sitting at a desk, I'm concerned about getting plantar fasciitis. Is there a link between sitting for long periods of time and developing this condition? I want to make sure I'm taking steps to prevent any potential health issues. TYIA

Yes, it can!

Inactivity may cause degeneration of the tissues in your foot that help to handle stress and take pressure off the plantar fascia. It may cause the tissues that connect your heel to your toe to tighten or shorten, making it inflamed and painful later.
