How effective are corticosteroid injections in treating plantar fasciitis?
Asked 4 years ago
Hey, I have been experiencing severe pain in my heel due to plantar fasciitis and have heard about corticosteroid injections as a possible treatment option. I am curious to know how effective they are in providing relief and if there are any risks associated with them. I want to make an informed decision before considering this treatment option. Thank you.

Corticosteroid injections can provide a short-term dose of pain relief for plantar fasciitis, to improve your function. However, they do not treat the underlying cause itself, which is a degeneration of the plantar fascia tissue. Appropriate treatment such as physical therapy and lifestyle changes are key. Like with any injection there are risks such as infection, so they should ideally be avoided whenever possible.
