How long does it typically take to recover from an ankle sprain?

Asked 4 years ago

Hi, I recently sprained my ankle, I'm curious to know how long it typically takes to fully recover. I'm tired of hobbling around and missing out on activities, so any insight would be greatly appreciated. What's the typical recovery time for this?

A minor sprain may only take 2-3 weeks to heal, however a more severe sprain may take between 6-8 weeks to fully heal. It is important to pace yourself and let the ligaments heal properly, to reduce the risk of re-injury. Gentle exercises for your balance ability, and for the strength of the muscles in your ankle, can encourage the body to heal as quickly as possible.
